About

Ten years of building back offices. Now for the businesses that can't hire one.

I'm Michael Doyle. For the last ten years I've run operations, technology and product for companies at very different sizes: a group of startups in Seattle, a collection of startups in Arizona, and a large technology company in Bellevue where I led a Center of Excellence.

The job title changed a few times. The work didn't. Somebody needed the CRM to actually work. Somebody needed the numbers to be trustworthy. Somebody needed the fourteen tools to talk to each other, the new hire to be onboarded without a week of meetings, the product to ship, and the process written down so it survived the person who invented it. That somebody was me, and I got good at it.

Somewhere along the way I noticed that the most interesting problems weren't at the biggest companies. They were in small businesses run by one very capable person who was doing everything, including the parts they had no business doing. Coaches and education businesses are almost all built that way. The tools they need are cheap. The person who knows how to wire them together is not, and nobody was offering that person a few days at a time.

So that's what doyletechteam.com is: one person, working with coaching and education businesses on a project, ten to thirty hours a month, or full time when the work needs it. I own the systems, the automation, the AI, the data and the IT, and I document all of it so you're never dependent on me to understand your own business.

I live in Scottsdale, Arizona. I work remotely by default and travel when it's useful.

How I work

Five things I believe about this work.

01

Boring tools, wired well, beat exciting tools wired badly.

The best stack for a coaching business is usually the one you already have, connected properly. I'll tell you when that isn't true.

02

If it isn't written down, you don't own it.

Every engagement ends with documentation a stranger could follow. Even if the stranger is you, eighteen months from now.

03

Automate the process, not the relationship.

The parts of coaching that matter happen between two people. I keep the machines out of that room and put them everywhere else.

04

Small fixes first.

The first month should ship the two things that annoy you most. Strategy decks can wait until something works.

05

I'll tell you when you don't need me.

Some businesses aren't ready. Some are ready to hire someone full time. Either way, you'll hear it from me on the first call.
